A Writer's Journey With Jeff

Some people just don't learn from critique. I work on a newsletter at my readaptation centre. Groundswell is meant to be a way to give some hope to readers. I also do the translations from French to English.
I was handed an article by a member on a seminar on Cerebral Palsy she attended. A paragraph in, I realized it was just an angry rant at the seminar, at life in general... with very little to say about the seminar itself.
I brought this up at our last meeting. Her answer: "We aren't here to sugarcoat things. I won't change a word. If you don't print it, I'll take it elsewhere."
I pointed out I just wanted her to change the wording a bit; there's a major difference between saying "It was bad; here are ways to improve it:" and "It was just bad, as expected." She refused to see that point.

I just mailed out the ltest issue of my newsletter a while ago. At last check, I've gained 8 more subscribers since last month. I'm breaking my average of 10 new subs between issues. I'll make that magical 1st 100 before issue 10 if this keeps up!
