A Writer's Journey With Jeff

I've been hard at work on the outline for my novel for NaNoWriMo this year.
I've kept it a rough outline - in fact, I have yet to actually work on a plot tree - but I've still succeeded in coming up with one plot twist.
I'm attempting a genre I've never tried before, Young Adult. At first I wasn't sure if the ages of my protagonists (13 and 14 for his sidekick) were old enough. After all, they aren't young adults yet themselves! I've been encouraged by others on NaNo's YA forum though that these ages are fine. Young adult is the age of the book readers, not the cnaracters after all.
I recently changed the ethnicity of the chaacters. I started with everyone Caucasian. The real world isn't, so my novel should reflect that.
